Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer 日前表示Windows 7由2009年上市至今，全球已經銷售4億左. 不過Windows 7最大的對手不是其他人，而是10年前微軟推出的Windows XP. Microsoft近日在自已的官方網誌上，勸喻Windows XP用戶儘快升級至Windows XP, 表示Windows XP雖然十分好用，但始終是十年前的產物，已經不能符合現時的新標準. Windows XP SP3的支持將會在2014年4月8日完結。
